Canoe Plant Spot-It Checklist (Free Printable)
Turn your next walk into a plant hunt.
This free printable sends your keiki looking for six canoe plants, the plants Polynesian voyagers carried to Hawaiʻi on their waʻa. Check off each one you find and write down where you saw it.
What’s inside
- A checklist of six canoe plants (kalo, ʻulu, niu, maiʻa, lāʻī and kukui) with their Hawaiian and English names
- A “Where?” line for each one, so keiki remember the park, farmers market or tūtū’s yard where they spotted it
Start with lāʻī, the leaves of the kī plant. It’s the easiest one for little eyes to find.
Print it at home on regular letter paper. When you spot one, snap a photo with your keiki and tag @thekeikidept. We love seeing where you find them.
Pair it with our free Canoe Plants Coloring Page, and learn all their Hawaiian names with the Canoe Plants Memory Game.
